Landscape Master Plan, Monument Signage & Restoration of Natural Areas

Campus-wide Update to Walk & Stroll Infrastructure

Oakton Community College retained Farr Associates and Conservation Design Forum (now ETC) for design services of the Landscape Master Plan, Main Entrance site improvements, Campus Monument Signage & Natural Area restoration.

Farr collaborated with large campus committees and focus groups consisting of students, faculty, staff, and members of the President’s Council.

The Landscape Master Plan identifies near-term and long-term solutions both campuses. This work included planning for wetlands, lakes, natural prairie, and adjacent forest preserves, branded signage and a complete reorganization of the main entrance to the Des Plaines campus.

These improvements will better connect Oakton with the environment while also offering a safer pedestrian design solution, and identity signage that blends with the naturalized campus setting.
