Global Citizenship Experience Lab

Design Education Towards a Sustainable Future

GCE is an outside-thinking, real-world immersive, non-profit independent high school. Led by Farr, the collaborative design team was driven by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, which focuses all aspects of the design to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all—addressing the global challenges of inequality, climate change, and environmental degradation, while encouraging peace and justice.

GCE’s new home features a retrofit interior buildout with non-traditional flexible classrooms, diverse learning spaces, and their mission-embodying central Citizenry, a large gathering space to be used for engaging all citizens: a place for discourse and display in student-driven research and reflection.
