Ann Arbor Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan

A 21st Century City

The City’s A2Zero initiative launched in November 2019 to create a plan for how the entire City – both public and private – could equitably become carbon-neutral by 2030. As part of the City’s process to create this plan, the Office of Sustainability and Innovations contracted Farr Associates, along with lead Elevate Energy, to help.

The team provided a detailed and rapid assessment of the greenhouse gas reduction potential and cost estimates for 40 potential strategies. We also provided strategic guidance to the analyses with graphic timelines and pathways to save money while still meeting the carbon neutrality goal by 2030.

Through close collaboration, our team focused on the highest value-added efforts to achieve the city’s goals and meet their tight two-week deadline. The plan was completed in April 2020 and the City approved the recommended strategies in June 2020.
