Farr Associates developed a redevelopment master plan for approximately 7 acres of vacant parcels within an existing neighborhood in downtown Gary, Indiana. The development, renamed Horace Mann, includes 123 units of mixed-income housing in an urban setting. The existing street grid has been retained, and a new street defines a community green, providing public open space for the neighborhood as well as a central focal for the new development. Farr Associates also served as the project architect for the development, designing residential building types and a community center on the site.
