Originally designed for a conversion of a historic 19th century industrial loft building into 52 affordable dwelling units, the project actually required the purchase of the adjacent building as well as construction of an addition. Farr Associates was still able to meet the budget even though the project had doubled in size. The two existing buildings were placed on the National Register of Historic Buildings and the National Park Service required the addition to be sympathetic, yet contrasting to the historic landmark.
