Farr Associates lead the master planning process and architectural design team for the Duneland Village redevelopment in Gary, Indiana. New housing ranges from one to four bedroom units, with ADA units provided at every unit size. The housing clusters are designed to vary in scale and in style, promoting a more diverse streetscape. While the budget was tight, the buildings play with varied materials and porch forms to provide the neighborhood with architectural richness. All stormwater is handled on site by a central stormwater boulevard, and the buildings are designed to benefit from maximum natural ventilation, daylighting and energy efficiency.
